Downloading Alchemy

1. Log in to your Camel Audio support account



2. Click the ‘Product Downloads’ link on the left
3. Download the Camel Sounds content files by left-clicking the appropriate links



• The Camel Sounds files will be automatically unpacked during installation
4. Download the key files required to authorise additional Sound Libraries



5. Download the Alchemy Plugin, selecting the Windows or Mac version appropriate to the computer you are installing to:
• Alchemy Plugin v1.xx (Mac)
• Alchemy Plugin v1.xx (Win 32-bit)
• Alchemy Plugin v1.xx (Win 64-bit)

Note: The Windows RTAS version for Pro Tools is only included with the 32-bit setup

Installing Alchemy

Windows

1. Place the installer, Camel Sounds files and key files together in the same location
• e.g. all files on the desktop, or all file at the same level of the same folder
2. Double click on the installer to run it
3. Follow the on-screen instructions

Note: The 32-bit and 64-bit plugins must be installed to separate folders, but we recommend sharing the data between both versions by using the same data folder. This will make your presets and other files accessible from both versions of the plugin while avoiding unnecessary duplication of the sample libraries.

Mac

1. Place all Camel Sounds files and key files on the desktop
2. Double click the AlchemyMac-1-xx.dmg to mount the disk image
3. Select the ‘Alchemy’ volume from the left hand side of the Finder window
4. Double-click the Alchemy installer package and follow the on-screen instructions

Installation is complete. Files may be removed from the desktop as they are no longer required by Alchemy. We recommended saving a copy of the installation files, to avoid downloading the files again should you need to reintall the same version.

Downloading Sound Libraries

1. Log in to your Camel Audio support account
2. Click the ‘Product Downloads’ link on the left
3. Download the Camel Sounds content files by left-clicking the appropriate links



• The Camel Sounds file will be automatically unpacked during installation
4. If the sound library was purchased from Camel Audio you will need to download the key file

Installing Sound Libraries

After downloading the Camel Sounds files, and any key files required for authorisation:

Windows

1. Double-click the Camel Sounds file
2. Click “Next” once. The contents of the Camel Sounds file will be unpacked to the Alchemy data folder
3. You may be prompted for a key file. Browse for the folder containing the downloaded key file
4. Start your host. Key files placed on the desktop will be automatically moved to the Alchemy data folder

Mac

1. Place any required key files on your desktop
2. Double-click the Camel Sounds file
3. Follow the onscreen instructions
4. Start your host. Key files placed on the desktop will be automatically moved to the Alchemy data folder

Installation is complete. Files may be removed from the desktop as they are no longer required by Alchemy. We recommended saving a copy of the installation files, to avoid downloading the files again should you need to reintall the same version.

Updating Alchemy

You can download the latest version of Alchemy from your support account.

While you are logged in, check to see if the presets and samples that are available have a higher version number than the ones that you originally downloaded. To install new versions of the presets and samples, follow the instructions above for installing additional Sound Libraries.

Windows

Download the and run latest Alchemy Plugin installer. Make sure “Update Alchemy” is selected during the installation process.

Mac

Download the and run latest Alchemy Plugin installer.

Uninstalling Alchemy

Note: by following these instructions all of the contents of the Alchemy data folder will be deleted, including any user presets and samples that have been saved there.

Windows XP

1. Open the Windows Control Panel
2. Click “Add / Remove Programs”
3. Double-click Camel Audio Alchemy

Windows Vista and Windows 7

1. Open the Windows Control Panel
2. Click “Programs and Features”
3. Double-click Camel Audio Alchemy

Mac

1. Delete the following files:

   /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Alchemy.component
   /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Alchemy.vst
   /Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/Alchemy.dpm

2. Delete the following folders:

   /Library/Application Support/Camel Audio/Alchemy
   /Applications/Alchemy

System Requirements

To use the Alchemy software you need a computer with at least the following specifications:

Intel Core2Duo and 2 GB RAM recommended

On a 2GHz Core2Duo the most CPU intensive factory preset uses approximately 50% of one processor when playing six notes. For optimum results, a fast, modern CPU and additional RAM are recommended. For tips on how to conserve processor power, see the Troubleshooting page.
