Baron rose to prominence in the drum'n'bass scene in 2003 and over the last two years has gone from strength to strength with a series of hit records and remixes. 2003 saw the release of a remix of Total Science's 'Nosher', which went on to become the rave anthem of the year. He also released ‘The Way It Was’ which rocked up the BBC drum'n'bass sales chart to the number one position, selling 10,000 copies in its first week.
It seems it was at that point that anyone who hadn’t taken notice of the Baron phenomena took notice. This included the award winning producers DJ Fresh and Adam F owners of the BreakBeat Kaos imprint. He was included on the ‘Biggest Drum&Bass Album of the Year’ (BBC Radio 1) with ‘Shakedown’ which was followed by the release of his chart-topping hits: ‘Supernature’, ‘Shakedown’, ‘Fahrenheit’, ‘Guns At Dawn’, ‘Rat pack’ and ‘At The Drive In’.
Thanks very much for taking the time out to have a chat with Camel Audio. Could you introduce yourself?
I'm Baron, I am signed to Breakbeat Kaos and working on my first album.
How did you get into writing music and being in the drum'n'bass scene?
I got into the drum and bass purely cos I liked the power and dynamics of it, the music has changed a lot since then, but I am still trying to make my own sound.
What projects have you used Camel Audio software on?
Camelphat a lot on my forthcoming album tracks, really like the fact every parameter can be automated in logic, makes for easy and quick use.
What do you like most about Camel Phat?
Basically the sound quality is really good, meaning you just wanna keep going back 2 it.
What are your plans for the next year?
Make my album one to remember!Check out Baron Productions for news on what I am up to.
