Originally the bass player for Magazine and The Bad Seeds, before he pursued a solo career of soundtracks for imaginary films, Barry Adamson has composed scores for a myriad of films including Scream3 ( one song orchestration), The Beach, Lost Highway, and Le Raid. Barry continued to put out his own solo music such as “The King of Nothing Hill”, and presently is working on a new album for release.

Thanks very much for taking the time out to have a chat with Camel Audio. How did you get into writing music and doing scores?

I was in bands in my late teens early twenties and I used to stick around when everyone went home and start teaching myself to play the other instruments and make tapes of ideas with keyboards and guitar synths and the like, so, when I'd done with being in a band I really had the bug to write music for films in the same way I used to make music after rehearsals.

What projects have you used Camel Audio software on?

I used Camel Audio software on my new album:” Stranger on the Sofa”. Actually, I started to prep for mixing and was able to take the albums sonics to a whole other level and almost start remixing before mixing! The software became, in some instances, the icing on the cake, and sometimes the sound of the slurp or the sequence of the bass. I mean I was spoilt for choices.

What do you like most about Camel Space and Camel Phat?

Freshness and the ability to create the effect that's kind of in your head; effects that you dream of having when you think, 'I really want it to sound like...'Or you can just get blown away by a preset in a way that you'd never think. Also the ability to create sequences within a sound opens more possibilities (Camel Space) and Camel Phat's distortions and warmth give that old analogue tape comp feeling exactly when and where you want it.

What are your plans for the next year?

Once the record's out (June) I'll prepare for promotion, put a band together and go out. The record's on my own label, Central Control, (see my web site for more info) which is also a production house for musicians, writers and filmmakers so I hope to be very busy with all that as new projects get up and running.
